Magazines of "Brethren"
or digging again old wells
News:
- March 2012: The Christian Witness, vol. 8 (1841), Simple Testimony 18, 19 and 22."And Isaac dug again the wells of water
that they had dug in the days of Abraham his father ... and he
called their names after the names by which his father had called
them." (Gen 26:18, translation of J. N. Darby)
"Wells are ever in Scripture, specially in Genesis, sources
of life and blessing, and, as such, the enemy naturally seeks to
'fill them with earth' (v. 15.) The opening up of the truths of
Scripture in the time of the Reformation, and still more
strikingly, some sixty years ago, though indeed these had been
previously stopped, corresponds with the wells which Abraham's
servants had dug, and which Satan ever since, acting through the
Philistines, has been endeavouring to choke. But Isaac cleared
and called them by their old names, an example, in this respect,
for men of faith and energy in every age."
(E. Dennett in the magazine "Christian Friend", vol. 16,
1889, page 164.)
These pdf-files of magazines of the "Brethren"
(so called) have been created to make the old writings of the
"Brethren" available worldwide. You may print the files
and share the files with your friends. But it is not allowed to
alter the files or to make money with it or to set them on

Please advise me of any dead links and other
errors!
Please contact me if you have any of the missing magazines.
Please note: In some cases the magazines are not complete. I have left out articles which are easily obtained through other sources in written and/or OCR-read form. It is not my aim to repeat the task that others have done before me (for example to scan the writings of J. N. Darby). Double scanning is a waste of time and paper (when printed out). In most cases the missing articles are to be obtained from the website www.STEMpublishing.com

A Voice to the Faithful
There are 10 further volumes of "A Voice
to thr Faithful" (from 1888 to 1897) but during these years
the "Voice" contained more and more articles with
questionable content, even bad teaching. These volumes are not
included here. Please do not request these volumes.

The Bible Treasury
"The Bible Treasury" was often reprinted and is still available in print from Chapter Two or Christliche Schriftenverbreitung or Believers Bookshelf or Present Truth Publishers and others. An online edition is available from STEM-publishing and from Bible Truth Publishers.
I have put here only the pdf-files of the first three volumes of the second editon of "The Bible Treasury". These are not 100% identical with the original volumes. The editor himself wrote: "In the first edition, some papers appeared which it seems due to truth to replace, and notices of ephemeral matter are consigned to oblivion." But he added a few other articles which are not in the first edition and are also lacking in the reprints (which were made from the first edition). The files of the second edition are also on the website of STEM-publishing .

| I do not know the editor of this
magazine nor do I know how many volumes were published (though I know it were at least 18 volumes). This periodical
has nothing to do with the older magazine by Patterson (see above) nor
with a later magazine also named "Words of Truth" which was published
since 1933 by Stow Hill (and of which I have complete scans of vol. 1 -
27; but sometimes having unsound doctrine I do not put these volumes
online.) It seems that the magazine published by Carter consits mainly of reprints and compilations of older magazines (for example Things New and Old) but it has many good articles and I put the two volumes here which I have. |
